Sturgeon are a type of freshwater fish that can grow to enormous sizes. They can grow up to 7 meters and females can live over 150 years. The one on display in the aquarium in front of you is still quite young, and has a long way to go. Today, sturgeon are critically endangered in the wild as a result of overfishing.
